05108865-Hand-Threading-Tool-Assembly-25.1006.3-1
Product Name: Hand Threading Tool Assembly (1/4″) – Part No. 05108865
Description:
This component is a manual hand threading tool assembly specifically designed for cutting threads onto 1/4 inch (0.25) high-pressure stainless steel tubing ends in waterjet cutting systems . According to the official parts diagram for High Pressure Threading Tools (Table 12-37), this assembly is listed as Item 1 for the .25 (1/4 inch) size and is rated for 60,000 psi (approximately 4,137 bar) high-pressure connections .
The hand threading tool functions as a precision mechanical device that cuts the required UNF-LH (Unified Fine - Left Hand) threads onto tubing ends that have already been coned. Threading is performed after the tubing has been properly coned with a coning tool . The tool features a guide bushing that provides proper centering of the tubing, and its bronze material eliminates any marring of the tubing during the threading operation . The tool uses a replaceable threading die (P/N 05108899) that cuts 1/4-28 UNF-LH threads .
The tool is designed for use with a tube vise (P/N 05108782) that securely holds the tubing during operation . The assembly is a standard OEM maintenance tool used for fabricating custom-length high-pressure lines and replacing damaged tubing sections.
Applications:
Cutting UNF-LH threads on 1/4 inch high-pressure tubing ends for waterjet systems
Essential for fabricating custom-length high-pressure lines for system repairs and modifications
Suitable for preparing tubing for systems operating at pressures up to 60,000 psi (4,137 bar)
Used in field service, maintenance, and workshop environments for offline tubing preparation
Compatible with standard waterjet systems from KMT, AccuStream, Flow, OMAX, BFT, WSI, and others
Features:
Precision Guide Bushing: Bronze guide bushing centers the tubing and prevents marring of the tube surface during threading
Replaceable Threading Die: Uses a 1/4-28 UNF-LH threading die (P/N 05108899) that can be replaced when worn
Thread Dimensions: Cuts 1/4-28 UNF-LH (Unified Fine - Left Hand) threads with a maximum length (L) of 0.56 inches (14.2 mm)
Ergonomic Handle Design: Allows for steady pressure application with counter-clockwise rotation
Durable Construction: Made from hardened tool steel components designed to withstand repeated use
Chip Clearance Capability: Designed to allow reverse direction turns to break off and remove chips during threading
Maintenance:
Usage Guidelines:
Sequence (Critical): Tubing must be coned with a coning tool prior to threading. Threading cannot be performed on unconed tubing ends
Proper Setup: Secure the coned tubing in a tube vise (P/N 05108782). Use a vise with soft jaws to avoid damaging the tubing. No more than the recommended extension length should extend beyond the face of the vise. For 1/4″ tubing, the recommended extension length is 1.25-1.50 inches (31.8-38.1 mm)
Use Cutting Oil (Critical): Apply a liberal amount of medium-weight cutting oil with high sulfur content to the end of the tube and the threading die. Apply lubricant frequently and liberally throughout the operation
Proper Cutting Technique: Grip the handles firmly, apply steady pressure, and turn the tool counter-clockwise. Approximately every half turn, reverse direction to break off and remove chips
Continue to Proper Length: Continue threading until the proper thread length is reached. For 1/4″ HP tubing, the maximum thread length (L) is 0.56 inches (14.2 mm)
Complete Operation: When the proper thread length is reached, remove the tool from the end of the tubing
Inspection & Care:
Clean After Use: Clean machining chips from the die and body of the tool before threading the next tube
Inspect Die for Wear: Regularly inspect the threading die for dullness or damage. If the die requires excessive force, produces rough threads, or fails to cut clean threads, replace it immediately
Die Replacement: When the die becomes worn, replace it with a new OEM threading die (P/N 05108899). Ensure that when installing a new die, the lettering on the die faces down towards the guide bushing to ensure proper orientation of the leading thread
Inspect Guide Bushing: Check the bronze guide bushing for wear. A worn bushing will not properly center the tubing
Check Extension Length: Ensure proper tubing extension length (1.25-1.50 inches) before starting
Storage: Store the complete tool set in a clean, dry, protective case to prevent damage to precision components
Full Depressurization (Critical): This tool is for preparing new or replacement tubing offline. Never use it on a pressurized system. Always follow lockout/tagout procedures and ensure the waterjet system is fully depressurized before any maintenance
