Outlet body spring
Product Name: APW Outlet Body Spring
Description:
This component is an outlet body spring, also known as a check valve compression spring or outlet poppet spring, specifically designed for APW series waterjet cutting systems. It is a precision-wound helical spring, typically manufactured from stainless steel, that provides the necessary closing force for the outlet check valve within the sealing head or outlet body assembly. The spring ensures the outlet poppet seats properly against the valve seat after each pressure cycle, preventing reverse flow of high-pressure water.
Applications:
Used as the return spring for the outlet check valve poppet within the sealing head or outlet body assembly of APW waterjet intensifier pumps
Installed in the high-pressure outlet section, positioned behind the outlet poppet to provide seating force
Suitable for ultra-high pressure waterjet systems operating at 60,000 PSI (approximately 4,137 bar)
Compatible with APW series intensifier pumps and cutting systems
Features:
Stainless Steel Construction: Manufactured from corrosion-resistant spring steel wire, providing excellent elasticity, fatigue resistance, and durability in waterjet environments
Precision-Wound Design: CNC-formed and heat-treated for dimensional accuracy, consistent spring rate, and long service life under continuous high-cycle operation
Compression Spring Configuration: Helical spring designed to work in compression, pushing the outlet poppet against its seat to maintain a closed position when the intensifier is in the intake stroke
Lightweight: Typical weight of approximately 0.002–0.004 lbs for easy handling during maintenance
OEM Compatibility: Direct replacement part for APW waterjet systems, cross-referencing with standard outlet check valve spring specifications
Maintenance:
Critical Wear Component: The outlet spring is a consumable part that undergoes constant compression and decompression cycles. Fatigue or loss of tension will affect valve responsiveness and proper seating of the outlet poppet
Inspection: During sealing head or check valve overhaul, inspect the spring for signs of fatigue, breakage, corrosion, or loss of tension. Compare its free length to manufacturer specifications
Replacement Criteria: Replace the spring if any visible deformation, cracking, loss of spring force, or corrosion is detected. A weak spring may cause pressure drop, incomplete sealing, or reverse flow issues
Set Replacement: When servicing the outlet check valve, it is recommended to replace the outlet spring simultaneously with the outlet poppet and valve seat as a complete set
Full Depressurization: Always fully depressurize the waterjet system (both hydraulic and high-pressure water circuits) and follow lockout/tagout procedures before removing the sealing head assembly or replacing the outlet spring
Lubrication: Apply a light coating of manufacturer-recommended high-pressure grease to the spring ends during reassembly to prevent corrosion and ensure smooth operation
Water Quality Impact: Poor water quality (contaminants, scale, hardness) can accelerate corrosion or fouling of the spring, affecting its performance and service life. Proper water filtration and treatment are recommended
