Details

Product Name: O-Ring (Part No. OR0140020151)

Description:
This component is a precision O-ring, a critical elastomeric sealing element designed for high-pressure waterjet cutting systems . It is typically manufactured from high-grade materials such as Nitrile (Buna-N), Viton (FKM), or Polyurethane, selected for their excellent resistance to water, hydraulic fluids, high pressure, and temperature extremes .

The O-ring functions by creating a reliable, leak-proof barrier between two mating surfaces. It is used throughout the waterjet system wherever fluid must be contained, including pump manifolds, check valves, high-pressure tube connections, and cutting head assemblies . The dash number 014 refers to a specific AS568 standard size.

This component is rated for continuous operation at ultra-high pressures up to 60,000–94,000 PSI (approximately 4,137–6,480 bar). As a consumable sealing element, it is designed for periodic replacement during routine maintenance and is compatible with major waterjet systems including KMT, FLOW, OMAX, WSI, BFT, and BHDT.

Applications:

  • Provides static sealing in high-pressure waterjet pump manifolds, check valves, and filter housings

  • Seals connections in high-pressure water lines and fitting assemblies

  • Used in cutting head assemblies and on/off valves (water switches)

  • Suitable for ultra-high pressure waterjet systems operating at 60,000–94,000 PSI (4,137–6,480 bar)

Features:

  • Precision-Molded Dimensions: Manufactured to exacting tolerances (AS568 standard size -014) for a perfect fit in the designated seal groove

  • High-Pressure Compatibility: Engineered for continuous operation at extreme pressures without extrusion or failure when properly supported

  • Chemical & Temperature Resistance: Formulated elastomers resist degradation from water and hydraulic fluids

  • Critical Consumable Component: Designed for periodic replacement; a worn or damaged O-ring will lead to leaks and pressure drops

  • OEM Compatibility: Direct replacement for OEM specifications and standard waterjet systems

Maintenance:

Failure Diagnosis (When to Replace):

  • External Water Leakage: Visible water weeping from connections or fittings indicates O-ring failure requiring immediate replacement

  • Pressure Drop: Inability to maintain rated cutting pressure may indicate seal degradation allowing fluid bypass

  • Filter Gauge Indication: For filter housing O-rings, replace when the filter gauge approaches 25 psi or lower while the pump is running

  • Visible Damage: Inspect O-rings for nicks, cuts, flattening (compression set), hardening, or cracking; any visible damage warrants replacement

  • Scheduled Preventive Maintenance: Replace filter housing O-rings every two years or if leaking is detected ; high-pressure O-rings should be checked for wear every 20–50 operating hours

Inspection and Replacement Guidelines:

  • Full Depressurization (Critical): Before any maintenance, fully depressurize the waterjet system and follow lockout/tagout procedures. Never service a pressurized system

  • Single-Use Component: Always replace the O-ring with a new one whenever the associated assembly is disassembled. Do not reuse old O-rings

  • Clean Installation: Thoroughly clean the groove and mating surfaces with a soft, lint-free cloth. Remove all debris, old seal residue, and mineral deposits

  • Groove Inspection: Inspect the seal groove for nicks, burrs, sharp edges, or damage that could cut or abrade the new seal

  • Lubrication: Apply a thin, uniform layer of manufacturer-recommended high-pressure grease to the O-ring during installation to prevent pinching, rolling, or tearing

  • Seating Verification: Ensure the O-ring is not twisted and is fully seated in its groove. You should see it nest inside the connector if installed correctly

  • Use Proper Tools: Use a dental pick or needle nose pliers to remove damaged O-rings and to push new ones into place

  • Torque Compliance: When reassembling components, tighten all connections to the specific torque values listed in the equipment service manual

  • Hose Routing: After replacing O-rings, ensure the high-pressure hose does not bend or turn aggressively, as this can lead to premature wear or damage

  • Storage: Store spare O-rings in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight, ozone sources, and chemicals to prevent premature aging

Cross-Reference Information:

  • BHDT / BFT #: OR0140020151
