Details

Product Name: Sealing Head Assembly Body (Part No. 20458098)

Description:
The Sealing Head Assembly Body (20458098) is the main structural housing for the check valve assembly at the high-pressure end of a waterjet intensifier pump . It is a precision-machined component, typically manufactured from high-strength, corrosion-resistant stainless steel, designed to withstand the extreme pressure environment of 60,000 PSI or higher .

This body is the foundation of the sealing head assembly, containing the precision internal cavities and sealing surfaces that house the inlet and outlet check valves, springs, poppets, and high-pressure seals . It serves as the critical interface between the high-pressure cylinder and the outlet plumbing, directing pressurized water from the intensifier to the cutting head.

Applications:

  • Serves as the primary structural housing at the high-pressure end of an intensifier pump in waterjet cutting machines

  • Holds the inlet poppet, discharge poppet, poppet pin, compression spring, and other sealing components

  • Positioned between the high-pressure cylinder and the high-pressure outlet plumbing

  • Suitable for ultra-high pressure waterjet systems typically operating at 60,000 psi or higher

Features:

  • Hardened Stainless Steel Construction: Offers excellent corrosion resistance and structural integrity under extreme pressure cycling

  • Precision-Machined Internal Passages: CNC-machined to tight tolerances for proper fit with check valve components and sealing elements

  • Cone Sealing Surface: Features a precision 45-degree cone surface that creates a metal-to-metal high-pressure seal when compressed against the high-pressure cylinder

  • Modular Design: Allows replacement of internal wear components (seats, poppets, seals) without discarding the expensive body

Maintenance:

Inspection

  • Regularly inspect the sealing head for scratches, excessive sealing damage, or erosion on the cone ring contact surface and the inlet poppet valve contact surface. If damage is detected, the surfaces must be refinished.

Refinishing the Cone Surface

  • Clean the 45-degree surface on the cone ring with 600-grit wet/dry sandpaper, using a radial (circular) motion. Minor defects can be smoothed with this method.

Refinishing the Poppet Seat

  • Place a piece of 1/4–1/2 inch thick plate glass on a sturdy table. Place 400-grit wet/dry sandpaper on the glass. Refinish the inlet poppet valve sealing surface using even, deliberate strokes while rotating the sealing head approximately 10-15 degrees after each stroke.

Final Polish

  • Perform a final polish with 600-grit wet/dry sandpaper after the surface is flat and smooth.

Reassembly Tips

  • A white plastic spacer ring should be installed on the "nose" of the sealing head before reassembly. Verify O-rings are properly installed in the ID grooves.

  • When reinstalling the sealing head to the HP cylinder, coat jackbolts with molybdenum grease to assure reliable torque and preload.

  • Keeping a fully-assembled spare sealing head greatly reduces pump downtime, especially during unplanned maintenance.

Repair Kits

  • Replacement of internal wear components is typically performed using Sealing Head Repair Kit 20458830, which includes the seat, poppets, retainer screw, poppet retainer, O-rings, and compression spring .

  • Consider aftermarket bodies with replaceable inlet seats for extended service life.

Full Depressurization

  • Always fully depressurize the waterjet system and follow lockout/tagout procedures before performing any maintenance on the sealing head assembly.
