Product Name: Integral Diamond Eductor™ III (IDE III) Cutting Head Assembly – Part No. 301329-2-XX

Description:
This component is the Integral Diamond Eductor™ III (IDE III) cutting head assembly, a high-performance, single-piece cutting head designed for abrasive waterjet systems . It integrates the diamond orifice and the carbide mixing chamber into a single, factory-aligned unit, eliminating the need for manual alignment of separate components . The -XX suffix in the part number denotes the orifice diameter (e.g., -12 for 0.012 inch, -14 for 0.014 inch) .

Unlike traditional cutting heads requiring manual alignment of separate orifice and mixing chamber components, the IDE III's integrated design permanently seals the diamond orifice within the mixing chamber, eliminating assembly errors such as misalignment, over-torquing, and incorrect stack-up . This ensures the waterjet is always perfectly centered for maximum cutting efficiency and accuracy . The assembly is rated for continuous operation at pressures up to 60,000–94,000 PSI (approximately 4,137–6,480 bar) .

Applications:

  • Serves as the primary cutting head assembly for abrasive waterjet cutting systems

  • Used for precision cutting of a wide range of hard materials including metals, stone, glass, ceramics, and composites

  • Compatible with standard P-III style nozzle bodies and major waterjet systems using appropriate adapters

  • Available in various diamond orifice sizes (typically from .007" to .018") to match specific cutting requirements for different material thicknesses and precision needs

Features:

  • One-Piece Integrated Design: The diamond orifice and mixing chamber are permanently aligned in a single body, eliminating alignment errors and simplifying setup

  • Extended Diamond Orifice Life: The diamond orifice lasts 10 to 20 times longer than standard sapphire or ruby orifices, providing a guaranteed service life of 500 hours and typically achieving 1,000+ hours in job shop environments

  • Faster Cutting Speeds: Up to 50% faster cutting performance compared to standard mixing chambers

  • Reduced Abrasive Consumption: Advanced coalescing plenum design reduces abrasive usage up to 20%

  • Superior Edge Quality: Cut quality remains consistent throughout the life of the head

  • Built-in Components: Includes removable abrasive inlet, focusing tube retaining nut, retaining ring, and high-pressure filter element

  • Multi-Head Capability: Ideal for use with tables with multiple cutting heads, with different orifice sizes possible on each nozzle assembly

Maintenance:
The IDE III is a long-life, low-maintenance component designed for minimal downtime . The integrated orifice and chamber are not field-serviceable.

  • Filter Protection (Critical): Use of an inline high-pressure "Short Stop" filter (absolute filtration of 0.006") is mandatory for warranty protection and highly recommended for optimal diamond life. This filter protects the precision diamond orifice from line-borne contaminants and debris generated by normal pump wear

  • Focusing Tube Maintenance: Only the focusing tube (mixing tube) is a regular consumable wear part that requires periodic replacement. Inspect it regularly for wear and replace it when cut quality degrades

  • End-of-Life Replacement: When cutting performance eventually degrades (typically after 1,000+ hours of operation), the entire IDE III mixing chamber assembly is replaced as a single unit . No internal maintenance or rebuilding of the orifice is possible

  • Full Depressurization (Critical): Before any disassembly or maintenance, always fully depressurize the waterjet system and follow lockout/tagout procedures

  • Inspect Retaining Nut: Periodically check the focusing tube retaining nut for tightness to prevent leaks and maintain proper alignment

  • Clean Abrasive Inlet: The removable abrasive inlet port can be cleaned if blockages occur
