Abrasive Delivery Tube / Sand Conveying Tube (Part No. 510000265)
Product Name: Abrasive Delivery Tube / Sand Conveying Tube (Part No. 510000265)
Description:
This component is a sand conveying tube, also known as an abrasive delivery hose or sand pipe connector, designed for the abrasive control valve system of waterjet cutting equipment. It serves as the conduit that transports garnet abrasive from the sand valve (abrasive regulator) to the mixing chamber of the cutting head assembly. The tube is typically manufactured from flexible rubber, polyurethane, or reinforced plastic materials to resist abrasion from high-velocity abrasive particles. It is a critical consumable component in the abrasive delivery path and is designed for compatibility with standard waterjet cutting systems operating at 60,000–90,000 PSI (approximately 4,137–6,200 bar).
Applications:
Transports garnet abrasive from the sand valve outlet to the mixing chamber of the cutting head
Connects the abrasive regulator assembly to the cutting head abrasive inlet port
Suitable for both standard and ultra-high pressure abrasive waterjet cutting systems
Compatible with various waterjet equipment configurations requiring flexible abrasive delivery
Features:
Flexible Construction: Allows routing of abrasive from the valve to the moving cutting head assembly without kinking
Abrasion-Resistant Material: Manufactured from wear-resistant rubber, polyurethane, or reinforced plastic to withstand erosive abrasive flow
Standard Connector Fittings: Features precision-machined end fittings (threaded or barbed) for secure connection to sand valve and cutting head
Corrosion-Resistant: Designed to resist degradation from moisture and abrasive dust exposure
Consumable Component: Subject to wear from continuous abrasive flow; requires periodic inspection and replacement
Maintenance:
Common Issues:
Abrasive Flow Interruption (断砂): If abrasive stops flowing during cutting, the tube may be clogged with compacted abrasive dust, foreign objects, or moisture-dampened abrasive . Check the tube for visible blockages.
No Negative Pressure: If the negative pressure gauge shows no reading, accumulated abrasive or foreign objects may be lodged between the sand valve body and the sand delivery tube connector . This requires disassembly and cleaning.
Tube Wear or Cracking: Prolonged use can cause the tube interior to wear thin or develop cracks, leading to reduced abrasive flow efficiency .
Inspection and Replacement Procedure:
Regular Visual Inspection: Periodically check the entire length of the tube for signs of abrasion, cracking, bulging, or pinching. Pay particular attention to areas where the tube bends or contacts machine components.
Check for Abrasive Leaks: Look for escaping abrasive particles around the tube and fitting connections, indicating wear holes or loose fittings.
Full Depressurization: Always fully depressurize the waterjet system, shut off the abrasive supply, and follow lockout/tagout procedures before disconnecting or replacing the tube.
Clearing Blockages: If blockage is suspected, remove the tube and use compressed air (0.3–0.5 MPa) to blow through from the sand valve end toward the cutting head end to dislodge debris . Do not use metal tools that could damage the tube interior.
Replacement Indicators: Replace the sand conveying tube if any of the following are detected:
Visible cracks, holes, or bulging in the tube wall
Repeated blockages that cannot be cleared
Abrasive leakage at connections or through the tube wall
Internal diameter wear causing inconsistent abrasive flow
Loss of flexibility or hardening of the tube material
Proper Installation: When installing a new tube, ensure end fittings are securely tightened to manufacturer specifications. Do not overtighten, as this may damage the fitting threads or tube end.
Storage: Store spare tubes in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight, ozone sources, and chemicals to prevent material degradation.
